Harper Lake Model Yacht Club Circumnavigation Regatta Page

Another annual event hosted by the HLMYC is the Circumnavigate The Lake Regatta. This event is open to all classes of model yacht. Traveling trophies with name plates showing winners for each year are awarded to winners in four divisions. Skippers from the Denver Area Model Yachting Association (DAMYA) and the Broomfield Model Yacht Club have often been our guests for this fun day event in which the boats complete two or more circumnavigations of the lake.

2010 Regatta
Seventeen skippers participated this year, which is close to normal, and not bad considering that the event was postponed for two weeks due to the weather. For those who participated, it was worth the wait. The wind was fairly consistent for the first two races and tolerable for the third. It seemed that all races finished more quickly than in the past.

Many thanks to those who pitched in to help, including: James Hayward and Tom Clawson who set up the course and then retrieved the buoys, Dick Ball and Tom Clawson for bringing refreshments, Geri Paxton for baking the delicious brownies, and to all of our guests who joined us for the fun.
