We held the first DF65 regatta of the season. Denny was the race director for the first half, and I took over the second half of the 10 races.Ten sailors showed up to sail. Six racers in the gold fleet and four racers in the silver. Racing took a while in the beginning due to the lack of wind. Silver fleet got a lot of practice with low wind racing. Today we held the first ODOM regatta of the new season, rescheduled from April 15 when there was too much snow on the ground. Today was a gorgeous day for racing with temps in the upper 60's and low 70's and mostly sunny skies. Eleven skippers, including Ron Miller a new member, attended this meeting in which the rules of sailboat racing as applied to model yachts were discussed and demonstrated in the Arbordale Acres Meeting Room. Click the following link to view Chuck's report of the meeting.

The club's year end meeting was held today at Murphy's Tap House, 585 McCaslin in Louisville. Attending members enjoyed lively conversation and excellent food and beverages prior to the start of the business portion of the meeting. Chuck Drake, club Secretary/Treasurer, has announced that the club's year end meeting will convene at Murphy's Tap House, 585 McCaslin, just down the hill from Harper Lake, at 12:00 noon on December 10th. Thank you Chuck for all the time and effort put into the search for the new location.

Under sunny but cold skies, we held the final ODOM regatta of the 2022 season today. Temperatures were in the mid-30s when we started and reached all the way to about 45 when we finished. Since there was VERY little wind and the sun was out in full force, it did not feel as cold as the thermometer would indicate. We had 6 skippers come out for the day. The weather was sunny and warm but for most of the 15 races we had very stiff winds out of the west, south west of 10- 15 mph with some gusts greater than 20 which made for an exciting and sometimes educational day. We held the postponed Rocky Mountain Regatta for the Victoria class today.  It was a beautiful fall day with temperatures in the 60s and mostly sunny skies. Eleven skippers came out to the lake to compete in 17 races for plaques and green chevrons. This was the largest fleet of the 3 RMRs this year.  In addition, a number of us met Sabrina Roberts who is in the process of building a DF65 and will be joining the club soon and came out to meet the club members. Today we held the October Victoria regatta. We had very pleasant weather with temps in the 60s and mostly sunny skies. Nine skippers came out to enjoy the sailing, weather, and camaraderie. We completed 12 races. (At the lake, I thought we had finished 14 races, but I discovered we accidentally skipped over races 7 and 8 on the electronic tablet so we really only had 12 races.). Today we held the 2nd Annual Rocky Mountain Regatta for the DF65 class. We had a great turnout of 9 skippers to compete for plaques and green chevrons. We had clear blue skies with lots of sun and temps mostly in the 70s. We completed 13 races before deciding to end the regatta. The Victoria Class portion of the Rocky Mountain Regatta was postponed until October 8th due to rain caused slippery footing at the lake that, along with the chilly temperatures, would have made for an unsafe and miserable day of sailing.

We held our August ODOM regatta today with good weather. Skies were cloudy but not threatening.  Temperatures started in the low 70s and were about 80 when we finished. We held the August Victoria regatta today in seasonal weather. It was quite warm again with clear skies and the sun beaming down on us at about 90 degrees. We had mostly good wind. We tied our record for Victoria turnout with 14 skippers coming out today as they did in April. We completed 11 races. We held the July Victoria regatta today. It was quite hot (in the 90s) and we had sunny skies the whole day. Surprisingly, the wind manifested itself and it was a great day for sailing the regatta. Today we held our annual Circumnavigate Regatta under quite uncharacteristic weather for the first weekend in summer. Temperatures were only in the 60s and skies were overcast. Fortunately it did not rain. The weather may have had some impact on the turnout - we had 14 boats in four different classes. This regatta was Kent Broadhead's wonderful idea 18 years ago. This was the 18th annual Circumnavigate Regatta but the 1st of the Kent Broadhead Memorial Circumnavigate Regatta. After having to cancel the DF65 regatta in May due to wintry conditions, we were able to complete the June regatta today, and not counting a couple of electrical/mechanical failures that led to a fleet of only 6 boats for the last few races, the regatta was completed without a hitch. We had 8 skippers come out to compete under cloudy skies and temperatures in the 80s, and we fit in 15 races by going overtime. The third Victoria regatta of the season was held today under mostly cloudy skies but very comfortable temps in the 70s. The wind was again a bit flaky although the last 45 minutes or so the wind filled in nicely. We had another fantastic turnout of 13 skippers, and we completed 10 races in the very light wind.
